Use a soft, non-stretch dressmaker tape. For closest fit accuracy, measure over minimal undergarments while standing upright.

Bust

Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape horizontal, parallel to the ground, and comfortably relaxed under your arms.

Natural Waist

Measure around your natural waistline, typically the narrowest point of your torso above your belly button and below the rib cage. Do not pull taut.

Between Sizes?

If your measurements fall between two sizes, we recommend sizing up for structured, non-stretch woven pieces (such as tailoring, blazers, and rigid shirting), or ordering your usual numeric size for ribbed knits, stretch poplins, and comfort-weave denim.

For classic high-rise vintage cuts (like the Riley or 90′s Pinch Waist), choose your true measured waist size for a clean tailored fit. For a slouchier Pacific coast weekend drape, we recommend ordering one size up.
ASTR, Trovata & California Silhouettes

Rooted in sun-bleached ease, Trovata and ASTR patterns are cut true to standard US sizing with relaxed dropped shoulders and generous, breathable torso ease. Gauzy button-downs drape fluidly without pulling across the bust line. If you prefer a more tailored French tuck, size down.

European Tailoring & Parisian Knits

European pieces tend to fit narrower across the back and higher at the armscye. We recommend clients between US 6 and 8 opt for French 38 or Italian 42 to preserve comfortable freedom of movement through the upper arms.
